【摘要】:Thesepracticesareusefulfordeterminingthemaximumtemperatureatwhichcrystallizationwillforminaglass,andaminimumtemperatureatwhichaglasscanbeheld,forextendedperiodsoftime,withoutcrystalformationandgrowth.1.1Thesepracticescoverproceduresfordeterminingtheliquidustemperature(Note0)ofaglass(NOTE0)byestablishingtheboundarytemperatureforthefirstcrystallinecompound,whentheglassspecimenisheldataspecifiedtemperaturegradientoveritsentirelengthforaperiodoftimenecessarytoobtainthermalequilibriumbetweenthecrystallineandglassyphases.Note0ThesetermsaredefinedinDefinitionsC162.1.2Twomethodsareincluded,differinginthetypeofsample,apparatus,procedureforpositioningthesample,andmeasurementoftemperaturegradientinthefurnace.Bothmethodshavecomparableprecision.MethodBispreferredforveryfluidglassesbecauseitminimizesthermalandmechanicalmixingeffects.1.2.1MethodAemploysatrough-typeplatinumcontainer(tray)inwhichfinelyscreenedglassparticlesarefusedintoathinlathconfigurationdefinedbythetrough.1.2.2MethodBemploysaperforatedplatinumtrayonwhichlargerscreenedparticlesarepositionedoneperholeontheplateandarethereforemeltedseparatelyfromeachother.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
