【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoverstherapiddeterminationof22elementsinusedlubricatingoilsandinbaseoils,anditprovidesrapidscreeningofusedoilsforindicationsofwear.Testtimesapproximateafewminutespertestspecimen,anddetectabilityformostelementsisinthelowmg/kgrange.Inaddition,thistestmethodcoversawidevarietyofmetalsinvirginandre-refinedbaseoils.Twenty-twoelementscanbedeterminedrapidly,withtesttimesapproximatingseveralminutespertestspecimen.Whenthepredominantsourceofadditiveelementsinusedlubricatingoilsistheadditivepackage,significantdifferencesbetweentheconcentrationsoftheadditiveelementsandtheirrespectivespecificationscanindicatethattheincorrectoilisbeingused.Theconcentrationsofwearmetalscanbeindicativeofabnormalweariftherearebaselineconcentrationdataforcomparison.Amarkedincreaseinboron,sodium,orpotassiumlevelscanbeindicativeofcontaminationasaresultofcoolantleakageintheequipment.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtomonitorequipmentconditionanddefinewhencorrectiveactionsareneeded.Theconcentrationsofmetalsinre-refinedbaseoilscanbeindicativeoftheefficiencyofthere-refiningprocess.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtodetermineifthebaseoilmeetsspecificationswithrespecttometalcontent.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofadditiveelements,wearmetals,andcontaminantsinusedlubricatingoilsbyinductivelycoupledplasmaatomicemissionspectrometry(ICP-AES).ThespecificelementsarelistedinTable1.1.2Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofselectedelements,listedinTable1,inre-refinedandvirginbaseoils.1.3Foranalysisofanyelementusingwavelengthsbelow190nm,avacuumorinert-gasopticalpathisrequired.Thedeterminationofsodiumandpotassiumisnotpossibleonsomeinstrumentshavingalimitedspectralrange.1.4Thistestmethodusesoil-solublemetalsforcalibrationanddoesnotpurporttoquantitativelydetermineinsolubleparticulates.Analyticalresultsareparticlesizedependent,andlowresultsareobtainedforparticleslargerthanafewmicrometers.1.5Elementspresentatconcentrationsabovetheupperlimitofthecalibrationcurvescanbedeterminedwithadditional,appropriatedilutionsandwithnodegradationofprecision.1.6Forelementsotherthancalcium,sulfur,andzinc,thelowlimitslistedinTable2andTable3wereestimatedtobetentimestherepeatabilitystandarddeviation.Forcalcium,sulfur,andzinc,thelowlimitsrepresentthelowestconcentrationstestedintheinterlaboratorystudy.1.7ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Specificwarningstatementsaregivenin6.1,8.2,and8.4.TABLE1ElementsDeterminedandSuggestedWavelengthsAElementWavelength,nmAluminum
