【摘要】:Theproceduresdescribedinthispracticeareintendedtoaidinevaluatingtheperformanceofcoatingsonvariousmetalpanelsincludingeitherneworpreviouslyrustedsteel.Therelativedurabilityofpaintsinoutdoorexposurescanbeverydifferentdependingonthelocationoftheexposurebecauseofdifferencesinsolarradiation,timeofwetness,temperature,pollutants,andotherfactors.Therefore,itcannotbeassumedthatresultsfromoneexposureinasinglelocationwillbeusefulfordeterminingrelativedurabilityinadifferentlocation.Exposuresinseverallocationswithdifferentclimateswhichrepresentabroadrangeofanticipatedserviceconditionsarerecommended.4.2.1Becauseofyear-to-yearclimatologicalvariations,resultsfromasingleexposuretestcannotbeusedtopredicttheabsoluterateatwhichamaterialdegrades.Severalyearsofrepeatexposuresareneededtogetanx201C;averagex201D;testresultforagivenlocation.4.2.2Solarradiationvariesconsiderablyasfunctionoftimeofyear.Thiscancauselargedifferencesintheapparentrateofdegradationinmanypolymers.Comparingresultsformaterialsexposedforshortperiods(lessthanoneyear)isnotrecommendedunlessmaterialsareexposedatthesametimeinthesamelocation.TheSignificanceandUseinPracticeG7addressesmanyvariablestobeconsideredinexteriorexposuretests.GuideG141providesmoreinformationonvariabilityinweatheringtesting.1.1Thispracticecoversprocedurestobefollowedfordirectexposureofexteriorpaintsandcoatingstotheenvironmentwhenappliedtometalsurfaces.Whenoriginatorsofaweatheringtesthavetheactualexposureconductedbyaseparateagency,thespecificconditionsfortheexposureoftestandcontrolspecimensshouldbeclearlydefinedandmutuallyagreeduponbetweenallparties.1.2Experienceindicatesthatthemetalusedasatestsubstratehasasignificanteffectuponweatheringresults.Thepurposeofthispracticeistodefinespecificsteelandothermetalsurfacestobeusedfortestinginordertominimizethissourceofvariability.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
